Deloitte & Touche's Technology Fast 500 program is a ranking of the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in North America. It includes all areas of technology, from Internet to biotechnology, from medical and scientific to computers. It includes both public and private companies.

Winners are selected based on the percentage of growth in revenues from 1996 to 2000 (five-year period). To be considered, Fast 500 and Fast 50 entrants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a technology company. This is defined as developing proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues, manufactures a technology-related product, or devotes a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology.
• Be able to show 1996 operating revenues of at least $50,000 USD ($75,000 CD) and 2000 revenues of at least $1 million (USD and CD).
• Be in business a minimum of five years.
• Be headquartered within the geographic boundaries. For the Fast 500, companies must be based in North America (United States and Canada). For Fast 50 programs, see the individual geographic boundary requirements. Subsidiaries or divisions are not eligible unless they have some public ownership and are separately traded.
